To show appreciation of the traditions the Owner experienced in their travels around the world, the architect was asked to design their “Little House of Memories.” The design has six different roof pitches, the tower in the front being a close replica of the Chateau’ de France and another pitch representing an English parapet. The south side of the exterior is patterned after an old English tavern (Tudor design), and the buttresses resemble those on European churches. The window is bay like those of the Irish pubs, the doorway conjures memories of walking into the Chateau Saint Michelle garden and the green scales comes from Topper’s favorite song “Puff the Magic Dragon,” when the boy didn’t return green scales fell like rain. In 2000, Topper's Wine Cellar was developed on a small triangular site for $398,000. 1890 sq ft.

The low overhangs and wrap-around porch reflected the valley's hot sun and created a relaxing interior ambiance. Etched glass further transmitted this atmosphere into the depths of the facility. Indigenous materials included heavy stone and timber that mirrored the panoramic view of the Yakima River and Valley, the Cascade Mountains and Mt Adams. |
